Tensile Membrane Landscape Sunshade Canopy in Ordos, Inner Mongolia

Project Overview:

This project was designed and constructed by kaifort in the front square of Ordos High-Speed Rail Station, Inner Mongolia. Utilizing advanced tensile membrane technology, we created several sets of tensile membrane canopies that combine modern artistic aesthetics with robust practical functionality. These pristine white membrane structures resemble sails ready to set voyage, complementing the grand modern station building. They not only provide a comfortable resting area for passengers but also serve as iconic tensile membrane landscapes showcasing the city’s modern image. This project is a exemplary application of scenic tensile membrane white membrane structures in a major transportation hub.

I. Project Background: The First Impression of the City’s “Drawing Room” Requires a Blend of Art and Utility

A high-speed rail station is the city’s “drawing room.” The station square, which is the first sight for every passenger exiting the station, directly shapes their first impression of the city.

As shown in Image 1, the Ordos High-Speed Rail Station building is modern and magnificent, featuring a wavy, curved roof full of design. However, the expansive square in front lacked comfortable sheltered spaces for passengers during intense sun or inclement weather. The square management needed a solution that simultaneously met the following requirements:

  • Image Compatibility: The facility itself needed to be landmark-quality, matching the character of the modern station building.
  • Strong Functionality: Effectively providing shade and rain shelter, offering tangible convenience.
  • Safety and Durability: Capable of stably withstanding local challenges like windy conditions and winter snow loads.

The task of shaping this “first impression of the city” was entrusted to kaifort, experienced in large-scale public space tensile membrane landscapes.

II. Solution: kaifort’s “Sail” Series Tensile Membrane

Based on the site environment and requirements, kaifort provided a solution inspired by “sails,” using scenic tensile membrane white membrane structures.

  • Design Inspiration: Setting Sail As shown in Image 1, our tensile membrane canopies feature a full, peaked design with multiple units combined, resembling ship sails poised for departure, symbolizing the city’s spirit of progressive development. This design is not only visually striking, but its smooth curves also efficiently channel rainwater and snow, ensuring structural safety, demonstrating kaifort’s ability to deeply integrate artistic aesthetics with structural science.
  • Pure White Color, Enhancing Spatial Ambiance We insist on using high-quality pure white membrane material. As depicted in Image 1 under the warm sky light, the white structure significantly enhances the brightness and cleanliness of the environment, harmonizing with any background. From a practical standpoint, the highly reflective white color provides effective heat insulation, creating a cooler space beneath the canopy.
  • Quality Ensures Long-Term Peace of Mind The membrane material selected by kaifort offers high strength, flame retardancy, and self-cleaning properties, meaning it can withstand climatic challenges for a long time, remaining fresh for years. The support structure is precisely calculated to ensure absolute stability in windy conditions.

III. Project Highlights: Experience kaifort Quality Through the Images

Let’s experience the results of these scenic tensile membrane canoons intuitively through the images:

  • Highlight 1: Shaping a Modern Gateway Image (Corresponds to Image 1) In the first panoramic image, the white tensile membrane landscape groups built by kaifort are symmetrically arranged. Their unique shapes create a delightful dialogue with the modern station building with its wavy roof behind them. Together, they compose a majestic, highly modern picture of the station square, perfectly fulfilling the role of a “city name card.”
  • Highlight 2: Humanistic Care and Practical Value (Corresponds to Image 2) The second image shows the completed scene from another angle. A citizen is visible walking, vividly demonstrating the facility’s natural use. The pristine white membrane structure remains prominent against the grey-toned sky, surrounded by neat paving and landscaping, with quality evident in the details. This is the core value of a successful tensile membrane canopy – not just existing as a landscape but serving as a welcoming space for people.

IV. Conclusion: Choose kaifort to Shape Extraordinary Spaces
